This is some of my fashion designs I worked with under the theme
of personality. This is where I was particularly looking at unique personalities.
I used colour and shape to display a vibrant extrovert personality that would
stand out. I was focused on creating innovative designs that would portray an
identity. I found that print was something I was drawn to using to create a
stand out effect. I used collage to experiment and make my designs textural and
easier to visualize in 3D designs.

Personality - Structure
I was focusing on the theme of personality and was looking
at what makes up personality. A big thing I kept coming back to was structure.
I was intrigued by how a structure can build up our personality. I took my
ideas into a 3D form and made a structure using paper art straws. I developed
this idea further by creating sketches with different techniques and Medias of
my 3D piece to enable me to gain a deeper understanding about structures.
Personality - Adventurous
For this piece I used my previous designs and put them into
a personality concept to compliment my theme. I wanted unusual fashion designs so
I could represent original personalities I also used bold colouring to show
this. I wanted the designs to be personal about a unique identity. I did this
through imagery. I was very focused on extrovert personalities and was inspired
by a trip to Brighton. To incorporate my inspiration into my designs I used my primary
Images of graffiti from Brighton to make up a print. I was fascinated by the
graffiti representing an adventurous personality.
Personality - Internal self
For this piece I was working with the theme personality. I
had previously been interested by unique personalities. I started to develop
this idea and look at what makes up our personality and our internal self. I
was intrigued by the fact that what people may know as our personality may in
fact be different to what our personality actually is. For example one person
may see someone as quiet, but if you explore them deeper there is a lot more to
that person. I used batik paper trapping to portray these ideas.
Personalty- complexity
I have been looking at personality as my theme. Within personality
I have been looking at complexity as there are many different layers to each
individual. I created this idea using techniques such as weaving, trapping and
felting. I also used vibrant and bold colours to show a unique identity as this
was something else I have been focusing on.
Relationships - flourish
With this piece I was working under the theme relationships.
I was interested in how our feelings can completely create a different
perspective on something. I represented this idea by embellishing my piece. I
used Angelina because this made my black screen print look completely different.
I wanted the Angelina to show the emotions of relationships and how emotions
can change something.
Relationships - Burnt emotion
Whilst focusing on relationships I looked at emotion. I created
this idea through a cellotape transfer technique using magazine rip outs. I
wanted to develop this idea further though so I experimented with netting. I
burnt netting and began to trap this over the top of my cellotoape transfer to represent
how people can be trapped under what society wants us to be. The idea of the
burnt netting on top of the emotion was to show that society can burn emotions out
of us.
Relationships - Perspective
My theme for these pieces was relationships. Within relationships
I focused on perspectives and how society views us. I took a well-known image
of fashion model twiggy and used Dylon image transfer to print this onto
fabric. I embellished onto this with lips and red embroidery thread to portray
an image of what society wants us to look like. I also used coloured dye
samples to portray how this makes us feel.
Personality - Abstract
For my theme of personality I have been very enthusiastic to
create my textiles work with a fashion design perspective. I have been focusing
on unique identities and I wanted to make sure my designs portrayed this. For
this piece I used abstract shapes, lines and textures from books and magazines
to create fashion designs. The abstract style was used to ensure the fashion
designs were individual and for a one of a kind personality.
Natural forms - Trapped
In natural forms I looked a lot at depth. I looked at this
by using the trapping technique to build up layers and complexity. I incorporated
mixed media into my work such as leaves to create an unusual texture which
would create a more realistic natural form tapping outcome.
Natural forms - Shades
Whilst looking at natural forms I looked at lot at leaves
and there outline. I used the silhouettes from leaves and turned them into fashion
designs. I then began to develop these designs using illustrator. I focused particularly
on colour swatches and how I could use shades to create a certain look.
Natural forms - Freedom
Freedom was something I also looked at with natural forms. I
liked the way that feathers are free flowing. I used heat press to capture
this. I particularly liked how this print on silk came out. I felt that this
look very luxurious and so I designed the print to fit into a dress where I
focused on the delicacy of natural forms something else which I was also interested
by.
Natural Forms - Delicacy
Whilst studying Natural Forms I was taken in by the delicacy
of them. I found this was particularly in the stems and flowers of the natural
forms. I was enthusiastic to look at how things can be delicate. I used mono
print to turn my inspiration into a fashion design.
Natural Forms - Depth
Whilst studying natural forms as one of my topics I focused
on the idea of depth. The idea that there is more to something underneath what
is visible. I used heat press to create a shadow like outcome and also stitched
into my work to show depth through layering. In my chenilling I also showed how
colour and texture can represent depth through textiles work.
Personality - Fitting in
Here I was looking at Personality. I was interested in the
idea of fitting in. I was intrigued by how we fit into society from my previous
work so looked closely at how shapes can fit together. I was also attracted to
unique identities so used these shapes from textiles work to create fashion designs
made out of shapes which were innovative and would represent someone’s
identity.
Fashion Trends - Pop Positive
For part of my fashion work I was looking at trends. I
looked at the trend Pop Positive for Spring/Summer 2017. I researched images
from places such as Getty images and Pattern Bank. As well as this I took my
own images and scans to put together inspiration for the trend. I put my work
together using InDesign and also looked at the use of type whilst doing this.
Fashion Trends - Look Book
In my fashion work I have been looking at Trends and Styling. To display my knowledge I created look books. I created one Look Book that would be used to advertise Topshop and make customers aware of current trends. The second one is to show a current trend - Mono Mix. I used Publisher, Polyvore and Photoshop as well as taking my own photos and holding shoots.
Natural Forms - Silhouettes
I used natural forms as a theme and started off by focusing
on silhouettes of natural objects. This led me to make prints which were
focused on the shapes of leaves. I was pleased with how the body of the leaves
printed and wanted to develop this concept further into a fashion aspect. I
used the lines and angles to create fashion designs that reflected my prints.
Personality - Expression
I have been focusing on the theme personality, which has led
me to be predominantly interested in unique identities. I was fascinated in how
this can be expressed through fashion designs using shapes and colours. I was particularly
inspired by a trip to London Fashion Weekend, where there were many unique
individuals who voiced their personality within their clothes with bold shapes
and colours.
Relationships - Emotion
For this piece I was working under the theme of
relationships. I was drawn to the idea of how society views us and how this
makes us feel. I decided to express this through colour and layering. The
textiles technique wax resist is used to build up layers of wax. The vibrant
cerise dye avoided the wax areas which left the colour to portray intense
emotions.
